What is it that makes a witch? For centuries this question has been posed and what helped define the burning times. But yet this is still a question that even in the year 2020 we are still trying to define what makes a witch . Some will say what makes a witch is the lineage , one whom is born into it . While others say it is a open to all whom wish to walk the well worn path. It seems like no matter where we turn each source of information lays out its own definition of what makes a witch. Even within our own circles and communities the answer will differ as to what makes a witch. As i write this i am no different than those before me or around me. I too have my own definition of what it is that makes a witch . So with this being the case how can we truly define what makes a witch.
When it comes to questions like these we tend to base it off of information we were feed or have come to believe. But is this what really defines what makes a witch or just what we have accepted to believe. The most common aspect of pagans or witches is the wanting to be submerged within nature. Even though this may be the case for many , Some witches cant even stand being outside. Either due to allergies, anxieties and the list can go on and on if we so choose to dive deep enough. So to say that every witch is one who frolics among the grain fields is not true. But does this make them less of a witch because of their disdain or inability to love it as we've been told. I think not.
So does this make us horrible witches for perpetuating such stereotypical rhetoric of what makes a witch. To me i think when it comes to what really defines us as witches ,its a person to person basis. Maybe within our own communities or circles their is a common theme that makes us make such bold statements. A prime example would be siblings , They can both love the same thing . But the reasons that they do love it can be as vast as the ocean is wide or as deep . When it comes to questions such as these it can make us open our minds to more than just the precieved notions. It doesn't mean it will change how we think, But allow us to expand our acceptance and world view.
