When we hear self care a lot of different things can come to mind and can very from person to person. But How can self care and the path we work go hand and hand? What does our community offer as a outlet for selfcare ? Many people deal with mental health and it situation is different . But why is it not talked about within our communities as much as any other subject. What is it about metal health that brings upon the fear of talking about it ? We all have had moments in our lives where our mental health has been effected.
When the subject does come up and you ask what is it that you do to help alot of answers arise. Some as simple as bath or just binge watching that favorite show in your pjs untill you pass out. But How can magick and self care go hand in hand and what can we do to bring them together. Today we are gonna go over different ideas and techniques we can do to help our self care/ mental health.
Crystals

Crystals have always been a popular way with dealing with energies and each one has its own magickal properties. But how can we incorporate crystals into self healing with out having crystals on us all the time? One technique is surrounding yourself with crystals as you set in the center, This doesn't require meditation and can be as big or small as you want . You can also use this technique and place them around the corners of the house or room you reside in . The second technique would be to place crystals on the body and just lay there taking deep breaths. Envisioning inside of your mind the healing powers of the crystals flow into your aura. The third option is get in contact with a local jewelry maker and creating a piece of jewelry to match your needs.(Or make it yourself of course). Last but not least we have the crystal water bottles , which are said to help benefit those who drink from them.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is something over the years that has gained momentum and the effects that certain smells have on us. The studies that have been conducted on the topic have shown some signs of improvement. We already use herbs and oils within our ritual practices and know the benefits they add to our work . The same can be applied here fo us and our mental health . Even though this is not a cure all be all it is helpful with self care and who doesn't love a good smell. The great thing about it is there is so many ways to do it and not just one method. It can be done with candles/ oils/ perfumes/diffusers,/lotions/bath bombs and you can even make your own blend to benefit you. When using this method keep allergies and allergie test in mind. Especially when dealing with new scents your not use to using. If you have animals know that some have effects on your pets . Baths/Showers

This has been one of the go tos for witches and non-witches alike and depending who you talk to each has their own ritual. But how can we make it more personalized for the modern witch? Essential oils to a bath can do wonders and help soothe the soul , mind and body . But if the thought of making a you soup is unappealing we got you covered. Hang herbs off the shower head and the steam will help release that scent and oil. For those of us taking a bath just add them to a reusable tea bag for a no mess fuss solution. You can also make or buy shower gels/ soaps/ hair product with these ingredients in them. You can also include crystals as well , just make sure they are water resistant.
Trance Meditation

When meditation comes up alot of the times you will hear i cant get my mind calm or i can't get comfortable. So that's when trance meditation comes in for the win for anyone with this issue. Trance meditation can be done one of two ways and im going to cover both of those ways for you . First is to find a object you can stare at and just zone out into that object , eventually your mind will clear itself and allow you to relax. The second method is to find something you can do for hours and never get bored. Get all the supplies and loose yourself within whatever it is you are doing. This is one of the reason why adult coloring has become such a popular thing. You can get lost into something without feeling pressure of anything else around you. So try trance meditation next time you feel like your gonna break and you might have found a new soothing tool to us.
