As pagans, our voices are rarely heard unless it is something that fits a narrative. I have been lucky in my years of dealing with media that those I've encountered have been genuine reporters. Who doesn't wish to spin a tale of fear but of truth. I'm not sure how far this post will reach or the feelings it may bring for those around us and abroad, But what I do know is this. As many of us have seen today Roe Vrs Wade was overturned. As a mother and a spiritual leader in my community, I felt compelled to voice my opinion on the topic. I know when it comes to conception we all have our opinions on the topic. This is not to take away from anyone's voice to be heard. But as a woman who has had preeclampsia and was not allowed to have my tubes tied due to laws and age requirements. This really hit home for me and honestly brings fear as anytime I could potentially get pregnant. I may not survive the process nor would my child. I was blessed that the goddess watched over me during my pregnancies and was able to make it thru it safely. But for many women, this could be terminal and kill both the mother and child in the process. We have watched as many laws in Ohio and states across America have made laws regulating women's bodies.
As a pagan mother, I fear not so much for myself as I do for the generation to proceed with us. We will start seeing women go back to old ways. Which for anyone who knows the history and the repercussions some of these methods can cause. We know that it will not be a sight any will want to see. It baffles me how we can live in a country that claimed to be founded on freedom. When all it has known is the oppression of others. Others who are different and who may be deemed less than.
For years women and countless others have fought tooth and nail to get rights. The right that all humans should have and is the right to love and make decisions for themselves. As long as they are not interfering with the rights of another. There are many sides to this and as you can tell I have my own opinion. I know some may not agree with it, but opinions are based on a few key things. Experience and information and since I know my experiences and the challenges I have faced in my own right to my body. I feel the need to express it and do so without shame or fear of what may come of it.
I have always believed we have the right to not only our own bodies but our own lives. This is what the human experience is about and not all choices made are good ones. But with each decision we make is a learning experience for us and our path in this world.
This is also the reason that I refuse to give up when I feel like my voice is not heard in such a vast community as ours. This is why I fight for our pagan community. This is also why I continue to make events such as embracing the divine feminine. Because each perspective, each soul, and each step we take is one step toward unity.
Even in the darkest of times where rights and liberty are stripped away. For it is in these times we stand together and uplift each other. No matter who you are and what life lesson you have learned along the way. We will always try and let all our voices be heard. So no matter if you are joining us this weekend as we join Roo's Realm or are attending another event this weekend. Remember this you impact your community. You are seen and heard and are valid, let your voice be heard. From all of us here at The Devine Witch we are with you.
