One of the most common questions other than "How do i find out who my deity " ? Is "Do i need a alter for every deity i work with ? Now one might say why work with so many deity to where this is a issue. Sometimes in ones magickal path you will get hit with what i call the "Deity Wave ". Which is where multiple deities will come to you all at once and can become overwhelming . As to why this happens there is two explanations that i normally contribute to this "Deity Wave ". One you either put out into the universe which deity calls to me and wants to work with me . The other reason would be is you have ascended into a new spiritual path and have been noticed. Which at first you may have ignored because it doesn't resonate with you . Now i can say personally i am currently going thru this myself and sometimes you just cant ignore it . Now if you are lucky like i am right now the ones coming to me are from the same pantheon. But we will go over if they are from the same pantheon vrs different pantheons.
When this first happens write down all the signs , dreams , image flashes and audio that you get. This helps you get guidance on who it is and where they come from and how to find them. Because unfortunately not all deities will be like " Hi , Im Loki nice to meet you", Being cryptic is in the deity code. Even though they reached out to you , They want you to be willing to do the research before they truly except you. Not saying some aren't direct, But most likely than not your gonna be searching for answers. So once we have figured out who it is and what pantheon they come from . That's when we start with the magickal workings and altar dedication talk. My personal rule is to never dedicate a altar to a deity unless its part of a agreement or until i've worked with them for a year. This gives me time to figure out what it is like to work with them and what's expected. Along with knowing if we are the perfect match . Usually deities can be respectful of that because it's a relationship you are building and good and slow can make it go.
Now when it comes to deities some do not like to share a altar and require their own altar . So please just do the research before you make a altar and now know the preference of that deity. With that being said when i have a lot come forth unless for reasons listed above, I will have a pantheon altar. A pantheon altar is a altar dedicated to one path of practice and only used for that pantheon. It makes it a lot easier when working with multiple deities without creating fifty different altars. How you implement this is switch out statues and items for the specific deity. When you have made the altar talk with the deities and tell them why you only have this altar. Always make sure to leave offerings for all not just one , Unless you are doing work with just one deity for spell work . This works because realistically not everyone has a magickal only dedicated room and not everyone has that much space. Now if you have the space and want to do that go right ahead. Because as always the path and direction are up to and what works for you .
